WHAT? It's already the second Thursday of the month! How is 2013 already flying by? YES! we are having a meeting. And a very exciting one at that. We have a fabulous plan for the new year and we are kicking it off with a guest from Project Linus. Come hear about this amazing organization and how they help the Tucson communities (and communities all over.) They are going to be our charity this year. And to encourage members to make and donate quilts (and blankets too), for each item donated at a meeting your name will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate....for FABRIC! 🙂 Bring 10 items, your name is in 10 times! And the person who donates the most throughout the year will get a fabulous grand prize! We also have sewing days planned and guest speakers plus a really fun field trip in the works. So you won't want to miss out! See you the 10th at the Quilt Basket. Come at 6:00 to shop (and use your 10% discount) and the meeting starts at 6:30. See you there!
Last week there was a group of us that met to plan out 2013! (Anyone who wanted to come was welcome.) And I have to tell you that I'm really excited about the coming year! The speakers, the raffles, the charity and more! It's going to be a great year! We have a meeting tonight. Bring a little food to share (if you wish) and a little gift to exchange (wrapped). It's all optional - so please come even if you have nothing prepared! We look forward to seeing you! Where: Quilt Basket/Sewing Room – 6538 E. Tanque Verde #130 When: Thursday, December 13th. 6:30pm
YES! We are having our meeting tonight! We will talk about many things - including the quilts we've made for the Cancer Center as well as opportunities to help hurricane Sandy victims. I hope you can make it! And please, if you're a member of our guild, find our interactive facebook group (we have a page too) and request to join! It's a great way to share information and ideas quickly and easily throughout the month. See you tonight! Quilt Basket: 6:30pm
Our meeting is this week! We are so lucky that Cristy is located near enough to us and she was willing to come speak! I have already used her board method to baste a quilt since the last meeting. I'm so excited to be up off of the floor. She is also generously offering our guild 15% off. Simply use the code INSPIRING on her website. If you don't have the glue tips yet, I highly recommend those. 🙂 See you Thursday!

One goal we have is to become more involved in the Tucson community as a guild. We decided that to be most effective we should choose one organization each year. This year we have voted to donate quilts to the Cancer Center. These lap quilts will be used by patients during chemo treatments and will stay at the center. Each month Kristi, one of our amazing members, has been sharing a block with us. She presents a traditional block and then gives it a modern spin! It has been wonderful! (We will get a page up with the PDF's of each block.) Guild members then make one (or more) of these blocks so that they can learn new techniques and play with design. Then we bring the blocks together to make one of these lap quilts for the cancer center. We also have members donating their time and services to back, quilt and bind these for the Caner Center. I'm so proud to be part of this group!
